Exit A1 out of Central MTR station takes you onto the busy Connaught Road Central. Life around this exit is unique on a Sunday as the business workers and shop assistants are replaced by Filipino maids on their one day off a week and families out for the day.
The art of moving around Hong Kong as a pedestrian is generally to move upwards; no point trying to cross roads at street level as motorists definitely have right of way.
On Sundays, the maids sit on the covered stairs to chat with friends. Pedestrians are left with the escalators and lifts which tend to be their preferance anyway.
