Ma On Shan Line

The Ma On Shan line is one of the newer MTR lines; most of it is built on a viaduct on reserved land.  The benefit to travellers of this unique arrangement is that all the stations on this line have public toilets!  But the disadvantage of this arrangement is the bleakness of the landscape when you exit the stations along the Ma On Shan line; there is no street life.  Just compare the views from Exit A1 along the Ma On Shan line with those on the Island Line.  Even while still on the train travelling north, you travel through endless clumps of housing estates.  This traveller found it all quite depressing.
